FEB. 2020 UPDATE ON TxDOT SIGNATURE BRIDGES

Before the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) can begin rerouting the river, three signature bridges are being built in a dry condition to maintain access in the area throughout the duration of the project. The bridges will reroute traffic flow over two former railroad crossings, decreasing delays. This project is being constructed by TxDOT with the City of Fort Worth as the local sponsor.

WHITE SETTLEMENT BRIDGE

The TxDOT Contractor, Texas Sterling, has installed six out of the eight tie beams (large support beam under the bridge deck) on White Settlement Bridge. The most recent tie beam installed was on v-pier 2. The tie beam was hydraulically lowered into place on the deck on the bridge. The beam placed is 86 feet long and weighs approxiamtely 120,000 pounds. The contractor is continuing work on pouring the lower deck support system along with installing the other tie beams across the bridge.

HENDERSON STREET BRIDGE

All eight v-piers have been poured and work continues on the bridge’s superstructure false work (the temporary support structure for construction). The Contractor is currently installing the superstructure false work across v-piers 2,3,4 and 5. The lower box girder over v-pier 5, the support area for the deck, was poured in January.

NORTH MAIN ST. BRIDGE

The superstructure false work (the temporary support structure for construction) is complete and spans across the full bridge. The contractor has poured the box girder, bottom slab support system, over v-piers 3,4,5,6 & 7. To check back on the last bridge update click on the buttons below. White Settlement Oct.
