EXCITING NEWS – The first of three Signature V-Pier Bridges on Panther Island, White Settlement Rd. Bridge, is officially open to pedestrian and vehicle traffic! The bridge opened late afternoon on Friday April 2, 2021. The signature V-Pier bridges that will span over the future bypass channel were designed by the City of Fort Worth and are being built and managed by TxDOT.
The opening on April 2 is considered a “soft opening” of the bridge. There are still a number of items that will need to be completed prior to TXDOT’s acceptance of the bridge from the contractor. The contractor will continue working the on handrail and signage on the bridge along with painting the underside of the bridge. There is also work remaining on the bridge’s LED lighting system, site grading and lastly, clean-up.
It is anticipated that a formal opening ceremony will occur later in May with dignitaries and nearby businesses involved to celebrate the opening!
This is an exciting milestone for Fort Worth. We are proud to open the White Settlement Signature V-Pier Bridge to traffic and look forward to a formal opening celebration later in May once the project’s final punch list items are completed by the bridge contractor.
