
The City of Fort Worth is hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony that is open to the public to commemorate the completion of the Panther Island Signature Henderson Street Bridge on October 16, 2021 at 10:00am. There will be various guest speakers as well as special guests at this event. The opening of the Henderson Street Bridge signifies that all three of the Panther Island Signature Bridges are officially open to traffic.
- Project Overview:
- $91 million for three innovative V-pier bridges, two modern roundabouts and other improvements.
- Partnership involving Trinity River Vision Authority, Tarrant Regional Water District, City of Fort Worth, North Central Texas Council of Governments, Tarrant County and TxDot.
- The three bridges will serve as gateways to Panther Island and create the foundation for a unique, urban waterfront community between downtown and the Stockyards.
- About the Henderson Street Bridge:
- 806 feet long, 77.75 feet wide
- Number of piers: 8
- Pavement: 17,000 square yards
- Retaining wall: 25,300 square feet
- Fill: 33,300 cubic yards
- Drilled shafts: 10-feet diameter, 60-80 feet deep
- Design architect: Miguel Rosales
- Design engineer: Freese & Nichols Inc.
- Innovative Design:
- Cast-in-place, post-tensioned V-piers with unique geometry to reduce the number of piers in the future bypass channel
- LED accent lighting
- 10-foot-wide lighted pedestrian walkways
