At 10:00am on October 16, 2021, the City of Fort Worth invited the public to a ribbon cutting ceremony for the completion of the Panther Island Signature Henderson Street Bridge, located at the south side of the bridge. Attendees gathered to hear District 2 Councilmember Carlos Flores, City of Fort Worth & TRVA Board Member as well as District 9 Councilmember Elizabeth Beck.
Following their remarks and the ribbon cutting, Fort Worth Model A Club and Fort Worth Z Club drove their automobiles across the bridge in celebration of the opening. As their horns honked and the attendees cheered, the ceremony came to a close. Signifying that all 3 Panther Island Signature Bridges are now open to the public.
The next phase of Central City Project construction is the building of the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) bypass channel. Final design of the north segment of the channel will be completed while TxDOT’s contractor finishes on-site work for all three bridges. The USACE contractor cannot begin construction of the bypass channel until TxDOT’s contractor has completely vacated the area.
